Glory Over Everything by Kathleen Grissom

I remember how excited I was hearing that Kathleen Grissom had written another book after her debut The Kitchen House. Learning that some of the beloved characters from The Kitchen House would be included in Glory Over Everything only hyped up my excitement.

Glory Over Everything was everything I’d hoped it would be. Set in 1830 Jamie Pyke is passing as a white man Jamie Burton living in Aristocratic Philadelphia. Jamie’s careful life begins unraveling when he learns of the pregnancy of his married socialite lover and the disappearance of his beloved servant, Pan. Jamie, who is indebted to Pan’s father, Henry for Jamie’s own freedom at age of thirteen, feels a deep obligation to Henry to venture back to the south to search for Pan.

The journey to find Pan reintroduces the reader to Sukey (wonderful Sukey from The Kitchen House) and Kathleen Grissom’s beautiful story telling transports the reader right into the Great Dismal Swamp in Virginia. Told from different points of view, Glory Over Everything is a page-turning, thought-provoking, and uplifting treasure.

Why this and why now? Well, I am filled with excitement all over again with the announcement that Kathleen Grissom has written a new book, Crow Mary, that will be released June 6th. I know I share that enthusiasm with many readers and fans of her work and have no doubt that you will be reading wonderful reviews about it all over bookstagram in the very near future.
