Gene’s Books Sanibel Island, Florida

Sanibel Island, Florida is well known  for it’s great shell collecting BUT it’s also home to one of the most amazing and original independent bookstores I’ve ever visited. Gene’s Books consists of several buildings in two very close locations that houses like genres together. Mystery? There’s a building for that! Science Fiction and Fantasy? Yup, another whole building. Looking for American Literature? You’ll find it in a cottage in the back! 

Similar to walking on the beach searching for shells, a stroll though Gene’s Books is an absolute delight. Maybe that is what Sanibel is actually known for….. shelf collecting!
